Common ATV Track Questions

Do ATV's with tracks go where snowmobilers go?

#1 YES and NO.. Until a ATV comes out with a longer wheel base like a snowmobile and 100 horsepower you will not be able to hi-mark like a snowmobile nor do i care to. On the other hand most snowmobilers cannot carry 400 lbs on a snowmobile and cross creeks and go through 4 foot snow drifts at 5 mph. I have yet to get stuck in a snow drift with my ATV as i have been stuck more then you can imagine on my long track snow-mobile in the soft snow of November and December.
#2 Reverse actually works on a ATV in soft snow but never works on a snowmobile in soft snow. When you get stuck with a snowmobile you had better be strong enough to lift it up or have someone to help you.
#3 There are many snowmobilers that are willing to cross creeks and go very fast to keep from getting stuck just to prove how good they are. I am 55 years old been there done that and only want to get there in a safe matter and want to slow down and enjoy the scenery.
#4 You will not see a snowmobile in the soft snow of Nov or DEC. until there is a hard base. Where i drive in Idaho i will have all the roads run before they even start there's up.
#5 It is not that i did not enjoy snowmobiles it is i do not need the speed thrill anymore and refuse to ever lift one again.
#6 ATV,s with tracks can enjoy a year long season,, snowmobilers can enjoy in most states 2 to 3 months.
#7 Most states as long as you run tracks and have a groomer pass or register your ATV also as a snowmobile will let you drive on groomed trails and since for example my 700 Yamaha can travel at 35 to 50 mph comfortably on these trails you can actually keep up with some of them.
