Mudding with Tracks

I have sold many tracks to the deep mud customers and i would say most of my customers have been very happy with their purchase. There are two types of mud and two types of mudders.

#1 (HAPPY MUDDERS) What i consider normal mud is mud on the farm, in the creek beds or swamps that is 1.5 feet deep or less. In this mud you would be able to see large rocks or logs and attempt to go around them. Tracks like the CATTRACKS or even the new TATOU 4-s will have no problem in this mud if you drive at moderate speeds. When you come to a obstacle you should slow down and figure out your plan of attack and attempt to go over or around it. The advantage to tracks is you can go very slow and work your way through most situations. The customers that have problems in this mud are the ones on a high performance machine trying to race through the mud. If you hit a stump at 30 mph it does not matter if you have tires or tracks on, PARTS WILL BREAK(NO WARRANTY)

#2 UNHAPPY MUDDERS, These are the customers that think if they purchase a set of tracks and put them on there slightly modified ATV that they can keep up with professional mud teams that have lifted there ATV 14 inches and put 32 inch tires on and spent up to 100k on there vehicles to win mud rally's.This is not going to happen as once you put tracks on your machine you will be in the open class and running against them. I have had many customers actually win or even take 2ND place against some of these professionals with stock ATVS but then the mudders organizations decided to make some of these pits 4 or 5 feet deep. The tire's work better in this mud because they will float the front end. The tracks work better when you always have 4 wheels on the ground but neither ATV will float. So the big boys go with the highest tallest suspension they can get and they have a great advantage in this type of contest.

#3 UNHAPPY MUDDER: These are the customers that drive in bogs or swamps that are 3 to 4 feet deep and have logs and large rocks that are hidden because they are in very soft deep mud. This is common in ALASKA and some of the EAST COAST STATES.Most of the time in three feet of mud the front track will go over a 1 foot tall log, the problem is you will then be high centered and the rear track will not go over,,

SOLUTION 1: Bring a 2x6 about 2 feet long and stick between the track and the log and then get the track to travel over the log and not through it. IT is very hard to lift a ATV with tire''s on over a log, it is nearly impossible to lift a ATV with tracks on over a log. I have actually heard of customers hooking up a tractor or large truck to this stuck ATV and expecting to drag it back even though it is stuck on a 20 foot log in the mud, needless to say MANY PARTS BREAK ( NO WARRANTY)

SOLUTION 2:I have a customer that has no problem in ALASKA but when he gets into deep muckage; his friend walks in front of the ATV and marks a safe trail and when he hits a large sink hole he goes around it.

SOLUTION 3: Go around the muckage
